I have been brooding on this point from last 20 years,my friend agrees that no one knows what for
we are born and what is our primary goal- somefriend has suggested that i will get my answer here - pl help,If you require any details to help answer this QUE / pl ask|||"Why are we here?" or "Why am I here?" is the question I'm getting from your post.

It sounds like you are a religious person so it might have been better to post this question on the the religious side of Yahoo Answers. But since you posted here I'll try and give you something helpful. Religion has shrived to give people a purpose. Christianity came about during the Roman Empire when people were rich from conquest and once reaching the top of society had little to do that was meaningful. Than Jesus came around and started telling people about the Jewish God and stirred up quite a storm. Quite awhile after Jesus died Constantine became the Christian Roman Emperor and began converting his people to unite an empire falling apart. This gave the people a common purpose, 'serve God and you will be rewarded in the afterlife or on judgment day'. This common purpose may not have saved the empire, but it laid the groundwork for the religion of Christianity. Christianity to this day tells you to follow the teaching of the Bible because you will than go to Heaven. If this is to be believed than the Earth is little more than a testing ground for an increasingly large number of souls put here to test whether we can meet the criteria for Heaven or suffer eternal damnation.

So, if you are a Christian than follow the bible, all you need to do is pick the right interpretation/denomination and hope your right... that your purpose.

If you fall in line with the science based nut around here (myself included) than you accept there is no evidence we were put here for any other reason than mankind is REALLY good at surviving and breeding. That is what life does best. I doubt there will be any proof of any other kind of purpose unless God writes it out in the stars or something.

To conclude, if you chose religion for your purpose than you get the most basic answer that any child would respond to "don't do bad things and you will get rewarded". If you subscribe to scientific reasoning than you come to accept there is either no answer or one cannot know the answer.

And sorry for contrasting science and religion so much... the last thing I want to do is make it seem science is threatening religion in any way... we got enough church goers in the Religious section of Answers that wouldn't mind if we fell into a firery hole.|||Sorry, but I can't even understand the question. 1) (se couches) Les enfants _____ _____.
    2) (s'amuser) Nous __________ ________.
    3) ( se peigner) Je ___________ ______.
    4) (se laver) Est- ce- que tu _________ _________.
    5) (se reveiller) Il _____ _____.

    These are a a few examples our teacher gave us, but I dont know how to do them.|||Les enfants se couchent. (the infinitive is 'se coucher')
    Nous nous amusons
    Je me peigne
    Est-ce que tu te laves?
    Il se reveille

    With reflexive verbs, as well as the usual subject pronoun, you need a reflexive pronoun (which translate as 'myself', himself/herself, oneself, themselves, yourself, yourselves in English).
    Reflexive pronouns are;
    Je ---> me
    Tu ---> te
    Il/elle/on ----> se
    Nous ---> nous
    Vous ---> vous
    Ils/elles ---> se

    Here's an example of one reflexive verb, se faire du souci (to be worried/concerned)
    Je me fais du souci
    Tu te fais du souci
    Il/elle/on se fait du souci
    Nous nous faisons du souci
    Vous vous faites du souci
    Ils/elles se font du souci

    See how the reflexive pronouns are placed after the subject pronoun?

    Good luck.|||Les enfants se couchent
    Nous nous amusons
    Je me peigne
    Est-ce que tu te laves?
    Il se reveille.

    It's easy, all you have to do is conjugate the verbs normally, but introduce the pronoun between the subject and the verb. Just learn that "je" goes with "me", "tu" with "te", "il, elle, on, ils, elles" with "se", "nous" and "vous" are repeated. if you know how to use the present tense normally, you can deal with this|||Les enfents se couchent. - The children sleep.
    Nous nous amusons. - We entertain ourselves.
    Je me peigne. - I comb (my hair)
    Est-ce-que tu te laves? - Have you washed yet? (literally "Is it that you've washed?")
    Il se reveille. - He gets up.

    PRONOUNS
    Je me...
    Tu te...
    Il/Elle/on se...
    Nous nous...
    Vous vous...
    Ils/Elles se...

    I hope this helps :D

    Seen in Robert Dyas (UK) Outback gas controlled bar be que for about a 拢100, would this be any good? what should i look out for? or is coal method the best?|||I have redcently started working in a garden centre selling bbqs!
    I wouldn't reccomend a cheap barbie of any kind.
    buy quality and it will last years!
    I would reccomend a Weber Q series,they are gas bbqs but the whole taste thing doesn't come into it. Weber gas grills have "flavorizer" bars,all the fat drips onto them sizzles and smokes creating the traditional charcoal taste.
    what a correspondant said about the lid is true,having the lid down reduces flare ups and creates an even cooking space.

    Don't just do meat on your grill either they are far more versatile than that,you can do all your veg,pizzas even cakes and bread!
    The Q series are also nice and portable so you can take them anywhere you want to eat!

    you could try the australian version if Weber and choose beefeater fairly pricey but they know what they are doing|||coal tasts better and are cheeper to buy but gas lights quicker and are easier to clean.

    Its up to you what you find more important, i personaly am building my own coal bbq they look great and still work out cheaper.|||For flavor, go charcoal. Gas grills can only add flavor if you add wood chips in a pan to create smoke. The problem I have with gas grills is that the burner assemblies seem to be made cheap and you end up replacing them every couple years. The grates can also rot away. There are good gas grills but you will pay the premium price for them. Buy a brand that you can get replacement parts for.|||Most important consideration is to make sure you get a grill with a lid that can be closed and air vents that can be adjusted - that way you can ensure properly cooked food that won't give you food poisoning! As the other answers have already said charcoal is better for flavour - I never see the point in a gas grill - might as well cook the food in the oven.|||GAS IS DEFINITELY BETTER IN MY OPINION. ALTHOUGH COAL OUNCE READY COOKS GREAT! I SUGGEST SPENDING A LITTLE MORE AND BUYING A STAINLESS STEAL PROPAINE BBQ. How would a copyright treaty do "damage to the national security"?

My link was to a story called "Google attorney slams ACTA copyright treaty" and it was on CNET.|||Because they knew violent protests would arise. The fact that you know ACTA now is actually a mistake. It was a leak. They were going to agree behind our backs and then slam us with the final decision.|||Just how was the Bush administration involved with this?

    ACTA first came to public attention in May 2008 after a discussion paper was uploaded to Wikileaks.[17] After more leaks in 2009 and 2010 and denied requests for disclosure by groups such as Doctors without Borders, IP Justice, the Canadian Library Association, and the Consumers Union of Japan,[18][2][19] the negotiating parties published an official version of the then current draft on 20 April 2010.[20] In June 2010, a conference with "over 90 academics, practitioners and public interest organizations from six continents"[21] concluded "that the terms of the publicly released draft of ACTA threaten numerous public interests, including every concern specifically disclaimed by negotiators." A group of 75+ law professors signed a letter to President Obama demanding that ACTA be halted and changed.[22]

    The final text was released on 15 November 2010,[23] with English, French, and Spanish published on April 15, 2011.[24] A signing ceremony was held on 1 October 2011 in Tokyo, with the United States, Australia, Canada, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea signing the treaty. The European Union, Mexico, and Switzerland attended but did not sign, professing support and saying they will do so in the future.[25][26] Article 39 of ACTA states countries can sign the treaty until 31 March 2013. European Parliament reportedly has the final decision over whether the treaty is dismissed or enacted.[27]

    We moving to a suburb across town. What will the new neighbors say about our choice in music? When they smell our bar-b-que? Or, our choice of porch furniture?|||Music can't be played very loud because it will cause a noise violation. Bbqs are fun and I've been to some out in the burbs (I live in the inner city). Porch furniture isn't used in upper class suburbs (just lower class) so I think people will say something and certain neighbourhoods have rules against that. Good luck in the burbs, people tend to move their for the better education. However, I find many urban charter schools to be better.|||As long as one does not disturb his/her neighbours, no body bothers about some one's choice of music.|||My best advice is for God sake keep the volume down, especially turn down the bass. 1. escucharon las estudiantes la musica en la clase de espanol el lunes pasado?

    2. A que dormiste anoche?

    Also, how would I say "grades" in Spanish? Thank!|||If you're talking about school grades, it's notas, NOT grados.

    Yo saco buenas notas.|||Did the students listened to music in Spanish class the last Monday?
    At what time did you fall sleep last night?

    grados is grades

    2) A to sleep last night?
    grades = grados|||1. Did the students listen to music in Spanish class last Monday?
    2. At what [time] did you [fall] asleep last night?

    The topic is in imperfect tense, but would I use preterite since I will talking about my grandparents who have passed away? And when I answer the question: Que hacian? would i use imperfect or preterite?|||Correct. You would use imperfect to talk about what they used to do, meaning repetitive actions in the past. Preterite is only for one time actions with a specific time or date. For more general repetitive actions in the past (like 'used to' do something or 'ing verbs) you use the imperfect.|||Just use imperfect and preterite the same way you would use them for someone who was alive (Sorry about your grandparents D:).

Would it be better to say Que querria usted? (nevermind the lack of accent marks, I'm too lazy to figure out how to type them) Fluent Spanish Speakers only please, I'm tired of getting answers from people taking Spanish in middle school who think think they know everything.|||This is what I'd say, if I was cursed and miserable enough to be forced to work at a McDonald's:

    " Buenas tardes. ¿Qué desearía llevar? "
    " Quiero tres McNificas, cuatro McNuggets de pollo, ocho McFlurry, y una Coca Cola light por favor. "

    " Hasta luego. "

    Of course, I'd only last a week or so, before eventually snapping and committing seppuku.|||No. "Que quiere usted" is the equivalent of an annoyed "What do you want?" in english. The best way to ask that question would be "¿Qué le gustaría?"

    This means "What would you like?" It is a more polite way to ask a person their order. It is also conjugated in the usted form to be respectful.|||When I worked at my family's bakery, I would always greet customers with "Hello! How may I help you?" regardless of language. Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    2 cups brown rice (cooked)
    3-4 tablespoons vegetable oil
    2 cups chopped baby carrots
    1 green pepper (sliced)
    3 slices onion
    5-6 mushrooms
    1/4 cup crushed pineapple
    1/2 cup cubed (small) firm/extra firm tofu (optional)
    2 tablespoons sugar
    1-2 gravy ladles of lime marinade (or other marinade)
    2 gravy ladles teriyaki sauce
    2 tablespoons sesame seeds
    1/2 teaspoon rosemary (optional)
    2 teaspoons curry powder
    1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    sprinkle crushed red pepper

    Directions:

    Use a wok, or other big sorta Teflon pan, so the stir-fry won't stick. Place 3-4 tablespoons vegetable oil in the pan and heat. Place cubed tofu in oil and cook on high until tofu is browned on all sides (approx. 10 minutes).

    While the tofu is cooking (or do this before), chop all of the vegetables to your liking. Place all the vegetables in a bowl. Pour the marinade, teriyaki sauce, and all of the spices and vegan sugar on top of vegetables. Once tofu is browned, dump everything that's in the bowl in the pan with the tofu. Cook on high until sauces soak in and vegetables are cooked down a little. You still want them to have a little of their crispiness.

    When they are done to your liking, turn off burner and place on cooked brown rice.

    驴Qu茅 hacen los novios al final de una cita?

    Is this asking who pays the bill at the end of a date?
    How would you reply saying your boyfriend pays the bill.
    How would you reply?|||What does a couple do at the end of a date?

    no it's not asking who pays the bills then it would say:
    驴qui茅n paga la cuenta al final de una cita? or 驴qui茅n paga la cuenta al final de una comida?
    and if u want an answer for a question like that then it would be:
    "Mi novio paga la cuenta cuando vamos a comer a alg煤n restaurante" meaning..." my boyfriend pays the bill whenever we go eat at a restaurant"

    and for the real meaning of the first question:
    It would be whatever you guys do after your date ends like you guys go to your respective home or you go to his house and watch movies or vice versa...etc.|||What does a couple do at the end of a date? Is the meaning of the question. The question does not say anything about a bill.

    How would you answer? Well, that depends on what you do at the end of a date.

    To say my boyfriend payed the bill.....Mi novio pago la cuenta. However, I don't think that is the correct answer. And there is an accent mark over the "o" in pago.

    Maybe a better one would be....Mi novio me beso. My boyfriend kissed me.

    Or...... los novios se besaron. The couple kissed.

    If this was my question to answer I would say, "normalmente los novios (fill in the blank) al final de una cita" This means that normally the couple _______at the end of a date. The only flag ever flown was the American flag & there was not much talk of the "old" country, except by a few.
    Those who talked about it too much were asked ........then what are you doing here & why don't you go back?
    Going on welfare even, for a short time was a mark of shame.
    They came with nothing , & expected nothing more than the chance for a better life.

    It would be much better if they didn't work so hard.|||Immigrants are okay. All they need to do is learn some simple rules.

    Rule number 1
    everyone gets in line and joins the queue - it's fare and easy that way.

    Rule number 2
    if you bump into someone by mistake in the street - always say "sorry". It costs nothing and spreads goodwill.

    Rule number 3
    never snatch something from another person's hands.

    I have found that Africans snatch - this is very rude behaviour here in UK. Take what is offered with care and please smile and say "thanks".

    Common good manners - "please", "thanks", "ta", "sorry". All these words and similar ones make life easy for all of us. We just do it as a matter of course. Immigrants must learn to do it.

    Africans must learn one small thing too and that is that there is no food shortages in UK and no possiblity ever of a famine.

    The Island of Britain produces two harvests each year and is unique in Northern Europe also the faming industry is highly mechanised and extremely efficient.

    Why worry. There's plenty for everyone, no need to shove and push.

    If a person shoves and pushes the folk here then start to dislike them and eventually this turns to hatred. Just don't let it happen.

    Here we are all nothing much, just the Common people. We all get just one vote each.

  • 驴Por qu茅 los Filipinos no utilizan la corona de Espa帽a mas?|||It is because Spain and the Philippines (its former colony) were already not in good terms well before its loss to the United States in 1898. The natives were getting restless about the unfairness, perceived or real and, in some instance, brutality, of the Spanish rule. I think Filipinos at the time just shrugged and said, "good riddance, the dictators are gone at last." Their new-found freedom and hopes for a better future with America were foremost in their minds, not honoring their former colonizer's crown. I know that many Filipinos continue to nourish some connections to Spain, either by blood or by the sheer influence of the Spanish culture. I did not live during that time. Neither did my parents and older siblings. But, even in later years, I would hear them sing Spanish music - not sure if they understood the language. It's also worth mentioning that our dialect contains many Spanish-rooted words.

    I have visited Barcelona and Seville and was quite impressed by their old world charm. I fell in love with that country. Then I started making assumptions: What if Spain never left the Philippines?

    Mi amigo Tito, quiero cantar Besame Mucho.|||If you're talking about the monarchy of Spain, it's because Philippines was no longer a colony of Spain since the Treaty of Paris (1898). One of the provisions states that "Surrendered the Philippines to the United States for a payment of twenty million dollars".|||99.99% of filipinos have never even heard of the crown of spain.

    It is the city where I have lived my entire life.

    I'm not sure about the verb tense for "have lived". Would it be plus que parfait?|||I'd be happy to translate:

    C'est dans la ville o霉 j'ai v茅cu toute ma vie. = It is (in) the city where I have lived my entire life.

    Note: - No Plus-que-parfait; instead use the Pass茅 Compos茅 because it is a completed action. You are saying this retrospectively; thus, the PC would be more fitting.

    C'est dans la ville o霉 je vis toute ma vie. = It is (in) the city where I have been living my entire life.

    Note: Here, this is semi-retrospective; but the fact is that you are still living in the city. It sounds like you would need the PC here; however, you will just need the Present tense.|||Esto es la ciudad donde he vivido mi vida entera.|||C'est la ville o霉 je vais ma vie enti猫re vivre.

    It is important that you understand. >> (I think I have this one right but I want to double check, "Es importante que intiendo". It is in the subjunctive tense.)

    He was going to drive alone.|||Hello, you do need to use the present subjunctive form in this case:

    Es importante que entiendas.
    (informal)

    For formal:
    Es importante que Ud. entienda.

    For plural- you when talking to a group of people
    Es importante que Uds. entiendan.

    I overlooked the second part, so here it is now:
    He was going to drive alone.
    Iba a conducir solo.
    Subjuctive not necessary here. :)
    Uses imperfect tense.

    They both mean "because", but in what context is each used? Does it matter, or is the difference arbitrary?

    I ask as a reflection on the general condescending tone characteristic of non-theists on the internet. No tu quo que's please.|||I was an atheist for the first 30-something years of my life and I can only speak for myself and the atheists in my campus organization. [You need to keep in mind that there are MILLIONS of people in non-theistic religions, such as some Buddhists, who are nothing like the people you describe.]

    But as for my college atheist group, I can now admit that we were basically arrogant non-conformists. We were all child prodigies and stand-out students and weren't afraid to use our confidence and superiority to tell others not to be "sheep". Of course, we were sheep as well but we would never have admitted. (We just followed other kinds of shepherds.)

    Sadly, a couple of years ago I tried to track down and contact all six of our atheist group and the results were very sobering. (Yes, we never were able to recruit any more than six undergrads to our little atheists club.) Two had committed suicide before finishing grad school. Only two of the remaining four had ever married (myself included). One had "married" his same-sex lover but they were estranged, and his former partner told me that Kenny was living in a remote cabin on the Michigan peninsula. The other unmarried guy was doing 7 to 10 for meth lab work in West Texas. Killian had become a scientologist and refused contact with everyone else. And then there is me, a born-again, Bible-believing evangelical.

    Again, I can't generalize. And that is why I can only speak about our particular group for whatever it is worth. We really only shared a few things in common: We thought ourselves superior. We had no social life. Most of us were social misfits to one degree or another. And ALL of us were frustrated with life and the rest of the world and we wondered why we were in the minority and why others didn't agree with us. If the Internet had been around back then, we would have had all the more opportunity to be rude because that is the advantage of anonymity.

    So draw from all of that whatever you want. That's my story.

    (As for me, I became a professor in two fields, first in computer science and then the humanities as a religion professor among other things. I've been married for longer than I can remember and have two kids and three grandkids. I'm retired from my university life as a religious studies professor.)|||From my point of view, discussions on the internet cannot compare to some of our Christian brothers and sisters who vote to take away the civil rights from law-abiding, taxpaying, gay Americans. Using our government to impose "religious beliefs" on everyone else is far, far more rude than differences in opinion on the internet.|||perhaps your only seeing one side of it because that's all your looking for.
    perhaps you think they are being condescending when they have an alternative to what you have.
    perhaps some of them are condescending because they feel you were being condescending
    perhaps some people are just aholes.
    perhaps it a little of all this|||i understand what you mean. but please don't generalize. it's true some atheists are rude, most likely because they were former theists (this includes me).

    most of us have had extreme, traumatizing and delibitating experiences that scared us for life growing up in religious families. for instance: homosexuals, psychotic fear of hell, knee problems due to extensive kneeling etc.. so forgive us for being a little hostile.|||I'm sorry, I'd need to see a source.

    Non-theists include agnostics, and I've never met an agnostic who was condescending...it sort of is hard to be condescending when you don't know....

    Non-theists also include the "apatheists" the people who just don't care....same problem...|||I have to admit coming across as brash and rude when faced with barefaced illogical, brainwased , delusional nonsense.|||There are rude people all over, theists and non-theists alike. Some people are just naturally rude and/or confrontational.|||Judging by the hate mail I (always gratefully) receive I find your conclusion somewhat spurious.|||You are implying that only non theists are rude and condescending.

    Your implication is incorrect.|||For the same reason you would sound condescending to someone who believed in leprechauns or little green men.|||The way non-theists talk to you is the way you would talk to someone who thinks they can talk to unicorns. That is how we view you. Sorry.|||it is all because you look for it but ignore the fact that theists do it too... congratulations you failed|||Way to generalize.|||Probably the same thing that makes theists rude.

    good luck|||All together:

    Une relation enre deux personnes doit 锚tre mutuelle. Pourquoi devrais-je aimer une personne qui ne m'aime pas?

    First Sentence:

    "Une relation entre ___ (leave les out here because you are not talking about 2 specific people)

    deux ----- (2 what? 'personnes' means people)

    doit 锚tre mutuelle.

    2nd Sentence:

    Pourquoi devrais-je _____("etre l'amour" means "to be the love" so instead use the verb aimer which means to like or love) aimer

    ( you left out part of your phrase here going from English to French "a person who" ) une personne

    qui (use qui rather than que because it is acting as the subject of the subordinate clause.)

    ne m'aime pas.
