The topic: Escriban un parrafo de como vivian sus abuelos.
The topic is in imperfect tense, but would I use preterite since I will talking about my grandparents who have passed away? And when I answer the question: Que hacian? would i use imperfect or preterite?|||Correct. You would use imperfect to talk about what they used to do, meaning repetitive actions in the past. Preterite is only for one time actions with a specific time or date. For more general repetitive actions in the past (like 'used to' do something or 'ing verbs) you use the imperfect.|||Just use imperfect and preterite the same way you would use them for someone who was alive (Sorry about your grandparents D:).
When you answer 'Que hacian', since the question is phrased in the imperfect, you should use the imperfect to answer it.
Remember: Imperfect is for unfinished/continued/nonspecific actions/descriptions. Preterite is for a specific number of/finished actions.|||Muri贸 mi madre durante 1992.My mother died during 1992.
