some tells that cu谩l comes before ser verb and some says it is not in all cases.i am totally confused regarding their usage.|||don't confuse yourself with CUAL...

Yes, Cu谩l ( with accent) is always gonna be in question ALWAYS.. but the verb "ser" isn't necessary to be right after.. Spanish has many possible ways to say the same thing.

Now i'll give a couple examples..
Cu谩l es tu casa?
Which is your house?

Cu谩l de las casas es la tuya?
Which of the houses is yours?
*** in this there's a prepositional phrase before the verb.

Mi casa es la roja, la cual est谩 al lado de la tuya.
My house is the red one, which is next to yours.
**** here it needs the article "la" cuz it is as function of the subject "mi casa".

Now about Qu茅, it is the same thing with the accent, you put it on in questions only.

Qu茅 d铆a es hoy?
What day is today?

Qu茅 t煤 haces?
What are you doing?

Mar铆a dijo QUE no comi贸.
Mar铆a said THAT she didn't eat.
**** "que" can also mean 'that', but not for directions (this/that).

there might be some other examples, but can't think of anything else.. hope it helped!|||cual is which
que what

de todos los ninos que estan en el parque, CUAL es el tuyo?
out of all the children in the park, WHICH one is yours?

QUE es eso?
WHAT is that?|||cual = wich
que = what
