Just wondering if anyone knows if you can use charcoal ash from from the bar b que grill for a good purpose? I hear its not good for plants.|||Regular wood ash is good for the garden, as it contains potash, one of the three main plant fertilizers. ( Needs to be applied to acidic gardens, or used in conjunction with acidifier in order to balance ph). However, charcoal, even though it is wood, contains chemicals and additives, that you probably wouldn`t want in your garden. It`s not even recommended for the compost bin.|||The charcoal ash can be used to spread on the soil around roses and other shrubs. It contains potash,an essential plant nutrient which is found in clean dry wood ash.
See www.taunton.com/finegardening/ashes-gard鈥?br> Charcoal ash may be used as above-not for general use all over the garden.|||I'm not 100% sure about charcoal ash but we use wood ash from the wood burning stove on our garden before we plant. Its supposed to keep some animals away as well as adding nutrients to the soil. Far as I know charcoal comes from prepared wood. Read the ingredients and make sure there are no dangerous additives in the charcoal that don't burn off.|||I use wood ash as a soil ammendment in my vegetable garden, but charcoal ash contains a lot of chemical additives and should be tossed in the trash. Don't even use it for your compost pile.|||i like to make a oil cleansing mask for my face out of it
1 part charcoal
1 part honey
1 part oats
mix together and put on face for 23 minutes...rinse off with dirty pool water|||Making geopolymers|||i use it for making old-time soap.
