How to know when to use them in spanish sentences...could you give an example to them por que?
Gracias!|||we use it when you start doing something and you finish it, but we don't know when.. and may be now, is the opposite action.. mmm.. for example: Mar铆a com铆a carne. We are saying that Mar铆a usually ate meat, but now not. May be Mar铆a is vegetarian now..
here you have an exercise http://www.cyberteacher.it/esercizi/spa_鈥?/a>

OR if you are saying "Mientras estudiaba, hab铆a mucho ruido" (while I/he/she was studing, there was a lot of noise). ("while you was doing something.." = pret茅rito imperfecto)
OR for polite questions: 驴Quer铆a algo, se帽or?
OR for descriptions of somebody or objects in the past: "Era una chica de pelo *****"
