I am translating some questions and need some help with converting some sentences. I am having trouble with figuring out "Do you" or "Are you". For do you I just put "Que Haces", does this seem correct. An example of the sentences:

Are you going to need the books this weekend? Not, I am not going to need them.
Do you have chicken for lunch? Not, I take it for dinner.|||You're on the wrong track, bud. :)
in spanish, one doesn't always "are you" or "do you"
only when it's actually saying about BEING something for "are you" or in the gerund form (going, eating, walking)

like you can say "eres un ayudante?" which is "are you a student?"
because it's talking about BEING something

and you can also say "estas comiendo una fruta?" which is "are you eating a fruit?"
because it's in the gerund

but u wouldn't say "estas ir a la escuela? " to ask "are you going to school?"
instead u would just ask "vas a ir a la escuela?" or "iras a la escuela?" in future form

and you can also put it in gerund form "estas llendo a la escuela?"

"Do you" is never translated into spanish directly..it is ommited
example: "do you go to the park?" would simply be "vas al parque?"

oh, and in spanish, you have to put an extra question mark in the beginning of the question upside-down...i also ommitteed some accents since i dont have my keyboard set in the spanish setting|||Qu茅 haces? Doesn't translate to do you or are you. It translates to What are you doing?

As for your sentences, they'd translate to
Vas a necesitar los libros este fin de semana? No, No los voy a necesitar.
Tienes pollo para el almuerzo? No, lo como por la cena.|||驴Vas a necesitar los libros este fin de semana? No, no los voy a necesitar
驴Tienes pollo para el almuerzo? No, lo tengo para la cena

If you could give me an example of how you think it's used, it would be easier to tell if it's wrong.
There is no translation.
For example:
Do you like ponies? 驴Te gustan los ponys?
Does he drink soda every day? 驴Toma 茅l soda todos los d铆as?

The verb changes according to the context

Are you going to do your homework? 驴Vas a hacer tu tarea?
Are you going to run? 驴Vas a correr?

In this case (Are you) we use the verb "ir"
驴Voy a comer?
驴Vas a comer?
驴Va a comer?
驴Vamos a comer?
驴Vais a comer?
驴Van a comer?

Hope I helped you
