I saw one of those drama shows on Spanish speaking tv, like "Lo que callamos las mujeres" about a little girl that went without eating for like a week and was diagnosed anorexic. What I can't wrap my mind around is how much does someone who suffers from anorexia want to weigh? Do they even have an ideal weight in mind? Do these people not set goals or something?|||usually they do, like i want/need to lose so much in so many days
so they will starve themselves but after getting there they are like well if i just lose 10 more lbs then they keep doing that...|||I think at the beginning they try to lose a few pounds then become addicted to it and develop a great and irrational fear of putting it on. Anoerxics also like the control they have over not eating, which is one of the main reasons for the disorder. It does sound hard for "normal" people to wrap their heads around people do things like that to themselves, but trust me, once your there it's very hard to stop.|||the aspect of anorexia: having either no weight goal, or one that is completely realistic (i.e. 80 pounds for someone who is 5'6'')

Someone who is anorexic feels that they are inadequate and will not be adequate unless they are their own ideal weight. its kind of an "i'll know it when i see it" thing|||If they have a goal, as soon as they reach it they lower it. People with eating disorders have what is called body dysmorphic disorder, which means that their brain percieves the body as fat no matter how skinny it is.|||great question.
I think they try to get as skinny as possible..sometimes that means just skin/bones.

Hopefully someone will intervene before that happens.|||Generally there is no weight loss goal. Most anorexics have body dysmorphic disorder, this means that no matter how thin they get they always think they are too fat.|||Yes they want to weigh Zero.
