Idiots! Anyway! last time my mum went to India (april 09) I queued up early and got the visa for her on the same day, but I think it varies between 3 month and 6 months. But I would check on their website to confirm. Don't bother calling them because they are useless and will never pick up the phone. You can get someone else to get it for you, if you can't get there yourself, you don't have to be present. I'm lucky to have a 5 year visa so I never have to worry about that! make sure you wrap up warm though!
